I am listening.
My client winced as she tried to lift her arm above her shoulder, the tightness pulling at her skin where scar tissue had formed. The aftermath of her mastectomy, and although the surgery had saved her life, it left her with physical limitations she hadn't anticipated.
Physical therapy in the initial stages helped, but the progress was slow, and frustration often overshadowed hope. She kept pushing through the pain, and the restricted movement, until she finally sought care for herself. Due to the loss of her husband, she had put her self care on the back burner so by the time I saw her, she had not been seen for 1 ½ years. The scar tissue was stuck and the fascial restrictions presented in her chest, rib cage, neck and shoulder causing pain and reduced mobility.
The moment light pressure was applied to her scars she cried. There was a release of emotions so great….It was as though she was given permission to feel into this compressed tissue.
She did not realize that the fascial restrictions from scar tissue, and adhesions that had formed around her chest restricted her movements, and were causing pain making simple tasks like reaching up into her kitchen cabinet, painful.
She learned simple techniques to tune into her body her scars, each scar with its own narrative of strength, resilience and vulnerability and feel where her restrictions were leading her to. No one else’s story. No one else’s patterns. Finally feeling into areas that she had set aside.
Releasing the fascia surrounding scar tissue played a crucial role in her journey towards improved mobility and decreased pain. Simply stated, Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, organs, bones, nerves, arteries and other structures throughout the body. When scar tissue forms, it can adhere to surrounding fascia, causing tightness and restricting movement.
Through myofascial release, the client learned to soften and melt down fascial restrictions, including scar tissue that was stuck and adhesions.
This woman regained greater mobility, pain was reduced, healing improved, she had simple tools to use to continue her self-care and she was able to move forward with greater ease and confidence.

Hi, I'm Loretta!
An Advanced John Barnes Myofascial Release Practitioner and Neuro Coach. Through my own journey of overcoming pain with Myofascial Release, I'm dedicated to guiding others in melting down their pain.
With over three decades of experience as a Physical Therapist and a decade specializing in Women's Health and Myofascial Release, I've witnessed the profound impact of proactive self-care. That's why I created the Breast Health Mastery Course—to empower women with practical tools for daily myofascial release, allowing them to take control of their health and well-being.
My mission is deeply rooted in service to others, sparked by a shared experience with my sister during mammography. As we both anxiously awaited results, I realized the importance of providing accessible resources and support for women navigating their breast health journey.
I believe every woman deserves to be listened to and have access to empowering resources and support. Through this course, I aim to provide not just knowledge, but also compassion and guidance. I learned that the fascia is all connected so although you may feel a restriction in one area, it may be coming from another area. This showed up for me when Loretta was treating me and working on my hip. I kept feeling something just under my right breast which happened to be the exact spot where I had an incision scar from prior lung surgery, amazing!

As a breast cancer survivor navigating the challenges of Lymphedema, I learned firsthand how scar tissue and adhesions silently impeded my recovery. With Loretta's guidance, I uncovered the importance of myofascial release and the interconnectedness on different body systems. I discovered old adhesions that were causing issues in my breast area. So powerful!

Myofascial Release is one of the most profound experiences I have ever had. My shoulders and low back loosened up after 4 sessions. It eased tension not only physically but emotionally.
Awesome!
